Letters are so immediate. The time gap between the writer and us simply vanishes, or at least that's how I feel. Thanks for these!

Your selection of letters are by far one of the best things I read on my phone - that's not a hard competition to win, but take it as compliment! Thank you for sharing them!

The letter about emotions by Stephen Fry is brilliant. Modern psychiatry implies we can do great things to change our feelings. This may have the effect of making those who can't feel like a failure, compounding their suffering.

Thank you! This is an absolutely fantastic selection of letters, each bringing a different set of emotions and punchy in their own way.

The first one is so good! I think everyone who has ever read a book that disturbed them so much and passed through all the hands of a family understands the feeling. In mine, it was The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, but we understood what he wanted to say :D

You challenge me, sir; now I must find the poetry of F. C. Meyer, for it is Poetry Month. Alas, he is missing, unless he is also C. F. Meyer? And did Kafka ever reply to Dr Wolff? I sure would like to read that letter. "Oh Lord, deliver us from a cheap melancholy" is a phrase I wish I had heard in decades of Lenten services before I just had to deconstruct. Worthy letters all, except perhaps Chapman's, because I am dubious of the true intents of politicians and prisoners. This was an excellent batch of letters! Thank you.
