I would love to buy this book, but as I am in the States am cringing a bit at the post cost. I will be in Scotland for a month this summer; any chance they carry it at Waterstones or elsewhere?
You could order it online and collect from a Waterstones wherever you're staying in Scotland, I've always found them very efficient. Hope you find one.
I bought the book! I'm a nerd and really enjoyed it. "I am so proud of you, our Soviet girl" is one of my all time favorite letters, from any of the Letters of Note books.
Such a sweet proud Dad letter to a son leaving on a grand and dangerous journey, wishing him fare well and safe travels of discovery.
Letters from parents to their children are the most moving and powerful aren't they?!!
Indeed!

Honestly difficult to know. Some branches of Waterstones carry the whole 'Letters of Note' series, while others have just the first, big volume. You could always buy the US edition, titled 'Letters of Note: Outer Space'; however, the cover isn't a patch on the UK one: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/611607/letters-of-note-outer-space-by-compiled-by-shaun-usher/

Excellent idea, thank you!
The letter was only succeeded in enjoyment by your 1 footnote.
