YES on being Alone....so necessary, so nutritious. I love being with my characters - that might be the best high ever. It's a virtual self creation. Also, the super sensitive, or super psychic, people have a whole different experience being around other people. We pick up what they are thinking, feeling and not saying. And the wonderful ones always have a trip to go on....
I second the previous comments. This is 100% me. Immediately shared it on LinkedIn, too. What a wonderful wonderful wonderful post. By the way, Shaun, I just discovered and ordered the fabulous Hemingway print on your website. It made me laugh out so loud!! Glad it'll be on my wall soon. Thanks from the heart for your continued devotion and just heart achingly beautiful work. Looking forward to 6 March.
As a closet introvert, I love this justification of my proclivities. I can do "social" but in limited quantities.
I think that preferring to be alone is actually very selfish. It allows one to do exactly what you prefer, when and how you prefer to do it. When and what you eat, wear, read, do or want is entirely up to you and it is a tremendous luxury.
My favourite quote by Blaise Pascal is very fitting: "All of humanity's problems, stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone." It is so important that we give ourselves the time and space to be lost — where we don't know what was in the news this morning, who messaged on WhatsApp and what our friends posted on their stories, a time of the day when we can just be ourselves and where the world is external to us. I wish everyone would take time to be alone, as we all need it, whether introverted or extroverted.
Oh, so many lovely sentiments, but maybe best not to lead with the eventual suicides? Introversion was a misunderstood curse to them, but understood aright, a blessing to others.
Extroverts prefer company because of co-dependent tendencies; introverts prefer not solitude, but Nature. Introvert seek Nature because of its great faithfulness to the Cosmic Order, as in, the way things are meant to be be; what is harmonious with their Soul.
Society can be corrupted, foolish, misled, full of stupidity, and arrogant. This is tiresome to the sincere thinker, the sincere emotional being, the introvert, who much prefers Nature, a true and incorruptible manifestation of the Cosmic Order.
I love this so much I want to scream (into a pillow, joyfully, with only my cat for company).
Being alone is not loneliness. I love this piece. And being alone is a gift!

Thanks Sabine!
To be or not to be alone,
Whether it is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous people
Or to take to solitude against a sea of people.
And so it goes.
Ha! It me.

I’m with you, Jo.

I love the picture of the owl who just peeks out and then goes back to his nest!

Felt every word of this!
Another one of those 'strange fuckers' LOL!

Got a good chuckle out of this. Happy to be in such good company!
I love spending time alone. I have done for years.
I feel seen!!!!
