I become very obsessed how other readers might or might not react to my words. i realise it's all fantasy but sometimes i value the instant gratification. i can be shallow. i know my lines are semi-original. i've been composing free verse since high school. adjectives are my allies. i sometimes am verbose when pure simplicity is the key. Thanks for these writing notes from people who understand what it is to write with meaning.
Such a great post to read this Friday morning! Thank you! Loved this by E.B. White: “There is no trick to it. If you like to write and want to write, you write, no matter where you are or what else you are doing or whether anyone pays any heed.”
I'm with BC4N, Shaun, you are an actual writer, and you can own it. This is a wonderful selection and I like that there's clearly no one way, according to those who have done it well. I've taken the tips that resonated with me and described the kind of writing that moves me. Thank you.
I used to get "jealous" of other writers that I thought were better than me, the way they could transmit an idea so beautifully, or an emotion, or a set of feelings. But now I just focus on my own truth and appreciate when a good writer accomplishes the impossible.
I'm partial to "For Christ sake write". The shit we put in the way of writing...
Shaun, you are an actual writer.
thanks for this! I enjoyed it and felt it!!!
Wonderful. Thanks for all of those.

One page of masterpiece to ninety pages of shit
This was a good post. It's encouraging to read notes from popular authors who understand what many of us probably already wonder.
Brutal and accurate advice. So good. Thanks for sharing!
