Wow! How I wish this could be disseminated to all arts departments of universities; all organizations which hire teaching artists; all galleries and museums!

This letter hits on a number of issues that we still see today. But, what strikes me is that much of what Artist Hollis says somewhat reminds me of what business owners need to "massage" with their customers/clients.

I own a small service business, and sometimes prospective clients think that the price for the work is what the business is profiting. This couldn't be further from the truth, with business liability insurance, workers compensation insurance, corporation taxes, unemployment taxes, FICA taxes, etc etc, the actual "profit" per job of a business would surprise many people.

I have a personal appreciation for what Mr. Hollis is writing in this letter.
