If you get the chance, go to see the musical 'Come from away' which tells the story of the impact the plane passengers landed at Gander airport, Newfoundland, had on them and also on the host community. Lots of heat-warming stories, but, inevitably, a few tragic ones too!
What a wonderful letter. I had no idea planes were diverted to Canada at that terrifying time. (I was living in the Northwoods at the time and had limited communications.) I humbly add my thanks to his for such generosity and kindness from our Canada neighbors.
I remember the television coverage at the time, and the stunned faces of the Americans and the loving faces of the Canadians. We saw the best and the worst in humans that day.
