This judge seems lovely. But sadly, abusers can suddenly sound very empathetic, claim they really want to be great parents, and promise to get all sorts of help, but once they've got the people involved in the case on their side and received what they want, the abuse returns - and their victims have lost credibility. Hopefully, that is not what ended up happening here. It is very lovely that the judge took so much trouble, and acknowledged so many things the children must be feeling. I also hope the family agreed to the letter being made public.
