What a wonderful, personal and honest letter to an aspiring writer. Really reflects who she was as a person.

Even in her private letters, there's the same touch of clear-headed wisdom for valuing the little moments in life. I like that she considers the best achievement making her mother happy

Very universally true. Especially in contemporary times.

“Success is often a lucky accident, coming to those who may not deserve it, while others who do have to wait & hope till they have earned it. This is the best sort & the most enduring.”

Yep. Today it’s the teen TikTok stars and ‘influencers’ who get all the money and fame while serious literary fiction writers are broke and unknown. That’s our culture. Sad but true.

Yes! The gift of sound advice from those who have gone ahead in response to the yearning of those who seek to advance is long-lasting. A gift that outlasts the giver and keeps on giving. Thanks for sharing!

"There is no easy road to successful authorship; it has to be earned by long & patient labor, many disappointments, uncertainties & trials."

Isn't this the case with most things in life/success? I have found that the best things in life have usually come through difficulties and trials.
