I can also recommend Gramsci's letters from prison and the writings of George Jackson "Letters From A Soledad Brother" and Jack Henry Abbott "In The Belly Of The Beast"

Interesting selection of letters. What were the reasons you chose these? Were there others not chosen? To end with Mark Chapman's letter was like a slap in the face compared to the pathos, anger, self-discovery of the others. Fascinating article. Thank you!
