I love that quote "There is nothing like being pleased with your own efforts", describing the feeling when you've finished creating but nobody else has see it yet. Perfect!
Haha, love this spirit! Second time this week hearing about Flannery O'Connor, I guess it's time to read her. Thanks for sharing. I wish i would enjoy typing and editing my things, i understand the satisfaction out of the effort done, but nothing bothers me more than giving another look at a final craft!
I've always enjoyed reading Flannery O'Connor's work and these short but incisive letters are no exception. Thank you so much for sharing them. Such an incredibile woman and writer! I can certainly relate to " I don't know so well what I think until I see..." Been there many times. Consoling to know she had been there too.
Apart from the wit and incisive observations, the blistering critique of Ayn Rand's absurd novels deserves plaudits.

Hard to choose a favorite and pretty sure she could care less ...Thank you.

Brilliant! What a wit! I did not know any Flannery before this, but will put that right.
Loving her no nonsense style!
She's a helluva spunky lady. I like her. Thank you for featuring her letters and giving the references.
Charming.
I’m thinking of printing it out and sticking it all the Rand books I see in libraries and bookstores.
The 1440 suggested I come here. So glad I made the trip.

Her letters are as rich as her fiction. She was one of a kind. Here's my post on her centennial: https://tinyurl.com/43csumvx
I see that this post made 1440's Saturday newsletter as "Mark her 100th birthday by reading Flannery O'Connors best letters." The URL led here: https://join1440.com/topics/literature/r/a-selection-of-author-flannery-o-connor-s-witty-letters
Congratulations!
