Adorable! Every single letter is fab, but particularly that from Barry Strauss's desperate mum ..!

WONDERFUL! Particularly Waugh and Fleming, but what a great collection of letters. Thank you for serving them up!

My heart broke for Hemingway and I guffawed at Hilary Mantel. Not bad for "merely a pile of letters." Carry on!

Hem was right. Writing often feels impossible. You’ve got to write through the fear just like you’ve got to walk through uncertainty in life. The Mozart one was entertaining. How much has love changed over the centuries? Not much.

Just discovered your Substack and subscribed. Looking forward to getting into it. I like how you mix pop culture with the literary stuff. Whimsical, yet deep. Cool!

I have a question: I have a Substack called "Free World Theory," and I'm trying to organize my home page. How did you you create your right-hand column -- the "Books" and "Megamix" sections?

I never knew Mozart was such an adoring husband. All the letters are delightful in their own way. Thanks for smiles today

Thanks for sharing these fantastic letters. Each letter is a door into their real relationships. These letters remind me that our current generations do not write letters anymore. Future generations won’t have letters to read. That is sad.
