On Monday 13th October, four days after Diaries of Note lands in bookshops, it’ll come to life on stage for the very first time: an evening at London’s Cadogan Hall that celebrates the private made public, the ordinary made extraordinary.
I’ll be on stage talking about diaries—their enduring appeal, the making of the book, and the strange thrill of reading someone else’s thoughts. Then I’ll be joined by some brilliant guests to bring a selection of remarkable entries to life. Among them: the inimitable Matt Berry, the wonderful Louise Brealey, a few surprise readers, and, just maybe, you.
Tickets are on sale from today, and I’d love you to be there. Head over here quickly to grab yours.
And because this book is, at its heart, about the value of everyday lives and private reflections, I want to hear from you.
Share your own diary entry
If you’ve ever written a diary entry that deserves a life beyond the page, I’d love to read it1. It could be from last week or twenty years ago. Funny, sad, strange, furious—anything at all, as long as it’s real.
You don’t need to be a writer. I’m simply after honesty, heart, or humour. And please only share what you’re comfortable sending: nothing too private, nothing you wouldn’t want another pair of eyes on.
Three of my favourites will each receive a signed first edition of Diaries of Note. One or two of those entries might be brought to life on stage, either by one of our performers, or by you.
Send your diary entry to shaun@lettersofnote.com. Deadline: Thursday 31st July.
And don’t forget to pre-order the book.
See you in October, I hope.
I realise how creepy this might sound.
By the way, nice to see your face!!
How to purchase it the USA?
Just what I want!
