Hey LON, I reposted the third letter on Twitter and several people responded with some discomfort about Tom's mother's description of Tom's autism, particularly with how outdated her assertion that "autistics don't cry" and that they prefer their own worlds.
I appreciate the letter was posted with good intention, but perhaps it's worth noting that these very outdated views are still being perpetuated by some and are harmful and upsetting to the AS community, so reproducing a 1980s letter that repeats them is unhelpful.
